STEP 1 INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE TOOL
Extract the file YarvikUpgradeTool.zip.
Once extracted, you will have a folder called YarvikUpgradeTool, with the following contents:
STEP 2 INSTALLING THE YARVIK USB DRIVER
To let the upgrade tool communicate with your Yarvik tablet over USB, a driver must be installed.
First, completely switch off your tablet. This can be done by pressing and holding the POWER BUTTON ( ) until the
tablet completely switches off.
When switched off, press the HOME ( ) button of your tablet and keep holding it.
While holding the button, connect the USB cable (the one provided with your tablet) to your tablet and to your PC.
Make sure to use the USB Slave port of your tablet. You can verify this by looking on the port labels marked on the
back of the tablet.
After you have plugged in the cable, and while still holding the HOME ( ) button, press the POWER BUTTON ( ) at
the same time and hold it for 2 seconds. Then release all buttons.
Windows will now attempt to recognize the connected tablet, but will fail to install its own driver:
Keep the tablet connected to the computer.
For Windows XP:
Click on your Windows Start button and click on Run… in the Start Menu.
In the Open: field of the window that follows, you type mmc devmgmt.msc and click on OK.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7:
Click on your Windows Start button. In the bottom of the Start Menu there is a field saying Start search…/Search
programs and files. Type mmc devmgmt.msc directly in this field followed by pressing Enter.
For all Windows versions, the Device Manager will now open:
Locate the Unknown device (the Yarvik tablet), right-click on it and choose Update Driver Software…:
Browse the computer for driver software and point it to the USB Driver folder inside the earlier extracted
YarvikUpgradeTool folder.
The folder USB Driver contains the folders amd64 and x86. If you have a 32-bit computer/Windows version, select
the folder x86 and choose within that folder with the correct name of your Windows version (2000, xp, vista or
win7).
If you have a 64-bit computer/Windows, please select the amd64 folder and subsequently the correct Windows
version (folder vista or win7).
To verify what Windows version you have and whether this is a 32- or 64-bit version, right-click My computer in the
Windows start menu and click Properties. The then displayed information of the computer shows you this
information.
Click on Next to continue when the correct driver location has been entered.
During the installation of the driver, a warning message may appear:
Continue the installation by allowing to install the driver software anyway.
The driver will now be installed on your PC.
